Terence Fisher's second film for Hammer, concerning a doctor's surgical restoration of an insane woman's outer beauty, borders on the fantastic and can be seen as a precursor to the director's break-out Science Fiction film, FOUR-SIDED TRIANGLE, again concerning scientists and a fatal beauty. Fisher returned for his richest and deepest exploration of the theme with the notable FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN.
