Synopsis

An eclectic group of characters set sail on Captain Lansen’s (Portman) leaky cargo ship in an attempt to escape their various troubles. When a violent storm strikes, the ship is swept into the Sargasso Sea and the passengers find themselves trapped on an island populated by man-eating seaweed, giant crabs and Spanish conquistadors who believe it’s still the 16th century.

Adapted by Michael Carreras from the novel Uncharted Seas by Dennis Wheatley.

I like this film. I always have, since seeing it as a boy. I thought it was grim and frightening as a child, and I guess there's enough child left in me to still like the monsters, lost ships, and eclectic and desperate crew and passengers. Atmospheric and dark, with a great cast.
