Synopsis

In the shadow of Castle Dracula, the Prince of Darkness is revived by blood trickling from the head-wound of an unconscious priest attempting exorcism. And once more fear and terror strikes Transylvania as the undead Prince of Darkness stalks the village of Keineneburg to ensnare victims and satisfy his evil thirst.

This may or may not be, objectively, one of Hammer's very finest films or the best of their "Dracula" series, but it is by far my personal favorite on both counts. I never get tired of it and seem to enjoy it even more with every viewing. Even without Terence Fisher and Peter Cushing, I think the film itself represents Hammer at its most fully realized and evolved. I was blessed to have seen DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE first-run on the big theater screen--repeatedly! Forever in love with the graceful Veronica Carlson. If Hammer's costume horror films were, as Peter Cushing often said, "Grimm's Fairy Tales for adults", then this is the most exquitely romantic and visually beautiful of their Gothic fantasies. 10/10 EXTRAORDINARY. (I rate the film an extra star above 9/10 EXCELLENT because it is so beloved of me.)

I actually like this film.Aswell as Christopher Lee having an amazing presence (even though he dosen't speak which I think makes him even more amazing and terrifying)it's pretty damn scary.

Despite the lack of decent plot for Dracula, there is plenty to enjoy in this film. The build up to his revival is packed with atmosphere, and the character interplay between Paul and The Monsignor is entertaining. Cool title sequence too, first time I saw it I thought someone had dropped acid into my tea!

This to is my favorite Hammer film of all. I love how the main character Paul who just happens to be an athiest has such misgivings about saying a prayer in the scene where Dracula is staked. It is absolutely priceless watching paul and the priests inability to say a prayer. I also like the ending in how Dracula falls on the giant crucifix. This is one of Hammers finest and an extremely enjoyable film.

Chris, I totally agree with you. I have watched this brilliant movie many times, and never get tired of it. This movie is, for me, the ULTIMATE Hammer film. And in regard to the lovely Veronica Carlson - well, I cannot express enough superlatives about this wonderfully talented actress!

One of the best in the Lee Dracula series well directed by Freddie Francis . The final scene of Dracula impaled on a giant crucifix is one of the most memorable in any Hammer film . It probably would have been even better with Cushing involved .
