The curse of the Baskerville family brings misfortune, violence and death to succeeding generations. It has reared its ugly head and foul murder has been committed when Sir Charles Baskerville is found dead on the moor. Sherlock Holmes suspects that the one remaining Baskerville is to be the next victim....not from the terror of the hound from hell but of cruel, cold-blooded murder. Someone is set to gain a great deal by the death of Sir Henry Baskerville and the master sleuth is determined to uncover who and why before it is too late.

This film is a bit of a mess. It starts well enough - all the expected elements are here. The re-telling of the legend. The missing boot, the attack on Sir Henry( very different from the book by the way). We then head out to the Moor. Here things take a silly turn. Playing fast and loose with the original tale and ( Understandably) ramping up the gothic horror aspects of the tale the film veers off-course. The villain is changed. The Hound looks, frankly, laughable and the finale is a bit of a damp squib. Ok I love Peter Cushing Andre Morell etc. Even Christopher Lee is ok in a rare sympathetic role. Terence Fisher, usually so reliable, kind of drops the ball here. It may not be the prevailing view but I feel this movie is a disappointment.
