The actress Julie Ege, star of Hammer's Creatures the World Forgot and The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires has died.
Norwegian-born Ege's early career was as a model, winning the Miss Norway contest. Following a nude shoot for Penthouse magazine, Ege earned herself a part in the 1968 James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service. In the 1970s she was a regular in British comedies including Every Home Should Have One (1970) and Not Now Darling (1973). Her casting in Hammer's Creatures the World Forgot failed to replicate the success of Raquel Welch's appearance in One Million Years BC several years earlier.
In 1974 she would once again work for Hammer, filming alongside Peter Cushing in Hong Kong for Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires.
By the late 1990s she had given up acting and had retrained as a nurse. She died from breast cancer on 29 April 2008.
