In April 2001 America's Video Watchdog magazine awarded GDI Records 'Label of the Year 2000' in recognition of its tireless work restoring and releasing Hammer's original soundtracks.
UK retailers have recently taken delivery of The Best of Hammer Horror, a mid-price (£6.99) compilation of previously issued tracks from 13 films, including The Mummy, The Devil Rides Out and Taste the Blood of Dracula.
The latest release is an album featuring the scores from the 1965 film She and its 1968 sequel The Vengeance of She.
The score for She is widely regarded as one of James Bernard's finest, and the inclusion of Mario Nascimbene's score for Vengeance is a similar treat.
The 40-track disc includes an unused alternate take of 'Carol's Theme' from The Vengeance of She and a three-minute interview with Nascimbene.
The company's next release is David Whitaker's superb score for Dr Jekyll & Sister Hyde, available in October 2001.
