On Friday 15 June 2001 it was announced that Christopher Lee was to be made a Commander of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours list. Christopher described the accolade as 'unexpected and a complete honour What pleases me is that I am the third person in my family to receive a CBE. The first was my cousin Group Captain Walter Wilson and then my [actress] niece Harriet Walter.'
British tabloid The Mirror ran the story as front page news the following day, but unfortunately chose to poke a bit of gentle fun at the expense of Christopher's Dracula reputation.
In April Christopher joined George Lucas at Ealing Studios to continue work on the as-yet untitled Star Wars: Episode II, and more recently he has been in New Zealand working with Peter Jackson on additional shooting for The Lord of the Rings.
The acclaimed career biography Christopher Lee - The Authorised Screen History received a second printing in July and is on sale now. Up-to-date details of Christopher's activies can be found at his fan club website.
