Titan Gets Its Teeth Into Hammer Films!
Thursday, 01 April 2010
Titan Merchandise, specialists in collectible merchandise from the cream of cult movies, comics and television, have signed a contract with Coolabi, which represents licensing for the classic Hammer Films brand worldwide, to bring a new range of Hammer-branded merchandise to market.
Titan Merchandise is developing a series of high-quality licensed gifts, using classic Hammer images as the inspiration for t-shirts, playing cards, mini-busts, statues and dioramas. Design and development for the Hammer merchandise range is already under way and Titan will begin a retail rollout before the end of 2010.
The products will be targeted at the fast-growing mainstream market for Hammer items. Titan Merchandise has an unrivalled specialist customer base, already familiar with Titan’s extensive output of graphic novels, licensed entertainment magazines and high-quality film/TV tie-ins. The company is also planning a broad general distribution designed to target mainstream consumers of all ages attracted by the Hammer brand’s classic appeal.
The timing could hardly be better. Titan’s publishing division, Titan Books, has already enjoyed enormous success with two lavishly-produced books on the classic era of the legendary Hammer Films company: The Hammer Story and Hammer Glamour. The market for items inspired by Hammer’s classic era is bigger than ever – and Hammer itself is back in the news with two new films, both slated for release later this year: The Resident and Let Me In
Andrew Sumner, Director at Titan Merchandise, says: ”As the reputation of Hammer Films’ classic, genre-expanding output has grown, so has Hammer’s status as a truly unique British entertainment icon – one that appeals not just to genre fans but to anyone who loves UK pop culture. Hammer is a true British success story and Titan Merchandise are thrilled to be developing this range of high-quality Hammer products.”
Janet Woodward, consultant at Coolabi, adds: “Titan’s announcement of a new Hammer Films range is, of course, a great vote of confidence in the brand from a respected name in the licensed merchandise business. But it’s also the work of true enthusiasts who understand the appeal of the Hammer Films name to generations old and young. We’re confident that the new range will more than do justice to that appeal.”
