Hammer Films: A Life in Pictures
This month sees the release of a very special book on Hammer,Hammer Films: A Life in Pictures
. The book is packed with over 600 rare and mostly previously unseen photographs from the BFI archives and is sure to be top of any Hammer fan's Christmas list this year.
The compilation was put together after Wayne Kinsey (editor of
) painstakingly catalogued a number of boxes of previously unseen Hammer photographs at the BFI in 2007 for an exhibition. The sheer quality and volume of unseen material persuaded Kinsey and the BFI that a book should be produced.
The collection includes scenes from nearly every genre of film Hammer worked in, from the 1940s through to the 1970s, with many unusual scenes from the thrillers and swashbucklers, alongside more familiar Hammer horror fare.
Hammer Films: A Life In Pictures is released on 20th November by Tomahawk Press. The book is strictly limited to just 2500 copies and priced at £29.99.
