Royal Mail Give Hammer Stamp of Approval

A special commemorative set of stamps celebrating 50 years of both the Carry On and Hammer film franchises was released by the Royal Mail on 10 June. The six stamps feature reproductions of the original UK cinema advertising and include artwork from

The Curse of Frankenstein (56p), Dracula (48p) and The Mummy


Available to purchase from local post offices across the UK, the stamps have also been issued with Stamp Cards, Presentation Packs and First Day Covers. The presentation pack also includes comment from scholar Kim Newman.

Unstamped Royal Mail First Day Cover envelopes (price 30p) will be available from Post Officeâ branches and philatelic outlets approximately one week before issue. Collectors who hand in or post covers at main Post Office branches will receive the pictorial Bray Maidenhead Berks first day postmark.

Alternatively, collectors may send stamped covers for the first day of issue to Royal Mail, Tallents House, 21 South Gyle Crescent, Edinburgh EH12 9PB, quoting reference FD08 15 (Tallents House) or to any Special Handstamp Centre quoting reference FD08 16(Bray Maidenhead Berks pictorial postmark) FD08 16NP (non-pictorial).

The stamps are also available in individual sheets of 50.
