DVD news (August 2001)

Anchor Bay Entertainment released three new Region 1 Hammer DVDs in July 2001. All three are presented in their original aspect ratios (1.85:1) and enhanced for widescreen TVs.

Scars of Dracula includes an audio commentary with director Roy Ward Baker and star Christopher Lee. A limited edition version includes an extra disc featuring the 1995 documentary The Many Faces of Christopher Lee

and two of Christopher's recent music videos (performed alongside Gary Wilson).

The Horror of Frankenstein features an audio commentary with writer/producer/director Jimmy Sangster, and an on-screen interview with co-star Veronica Carlson

.

Blood From the Mummy's Tomb

features a short documentary which includes specially filmed interviews with writer Christopher Wicking and leading lady Valerie Leon. A limited edition features a previously hard-to-find disc of Hammer trailers.

A&E will release all 13 episodes of

Hammer House of Horror

in a four-DVD box set on Tuesday 21 August. A&E have promised that the box set, which is a Region 1 release for sale in the United States, will also feature as yet unspecified bonus material.

After much speculation we have received news that Warner Home Video will release Hammer's

The Mummy

in the United States on Tuesday 2 October 2001.

This is first of the classic films from Hammer's golden age to make it on to DVD. No information is available about aspect ratio or extras.
