A five week course running as part of the Open Learning scheme at the Queen's University, Belfast. The course is open to everyone, and is being taught by Hammer scholar Robert Simpson.
"Hammer Films Ltd is the most successful independent British film company. This course explores Hammer's output, focussing on their horror films, including new production Beyond the Rave. Key texts such as The Curse of Frankestein, Dracula, The Quartermass Xperiment and The Plague of the Zombies will be discussed, alongside broader issues such as genres, stardom, censorship and publicity. The course will make extensive use of clips, stills, and publicity imagery. There will also be a field trip replicating period cinema-going experiences providing a context for the marketing and exhibitions of the films"
Starting Tuesday 29th April 2008, from 7-9pm. The fee for the course is £38, with concessions at £28.
